Senior Camp

The Senior Camper Program originated in 1994 to provide older campers (entering 7th through 10th grade) with more outdoor recreation and aquatics programs.

A Typical Day

Teenagers entering the seventh and eighth grade are eligible for a two-year Senior Camper program. In addition to the regular day camp schedule, the senior campers participate in trip and travel programs to promote an awareness of outdoor recreation. Every week, one day of the Senior Camp schedule features a day trip that could include off-site activities ranging from hiking, canoeing, and biking. Senior campers learn water safety skills and may progress to the Lifeguard Readiness Program, as part of the American Red Cross swim program.

Extended day services for all Senior Campers are available for an additional cost.

Leadership Programs

Senior Campers
After successful completion of the senior camper program, Summer’s Edge invites campers entering the ninth and tenth grade into the Leader In Training (L.I.T.) and Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) programs, respectively. Several Summer’s Edge campers have graduated from the C.I.T. program, applied for employment at age 16 1/2, and served as junior counselors in the day camp.
